The Government of Alberta requires drivers of vehicles equipped with air brakes to have their driver’s license approved for air brake “Q”. This includes both commercial and motorhomes. 

This course aims to provide the participants with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to properly inspect the vehicles air braking system. As part of the course, students complete in-class learning along with practical training. Students will then need to submit course completion certificate to the Alberta Registry to take the knowledge test. Once the knowledge test is passed, the “Q” endorsement will be applied to the student’s license. The test consists of 30 multiple choice questions, 25 of which are required to be correct in order to pass.

Program Objectives:

• An overview of air brake systems along with how to use them correctly.
• How to perform an airbrake pre-trip inspection.
• Know how and when to adjust an s-cam drum brake.
